Já perceberam pelo número de vezes em que já falei de saldos que sou uma adepta convicta. Se bem planeadas e de forma consciente as compras nos saldos permitem-nos uma grande poupança. Recuso o protótipo (agora politicamente correcto) de que quem faz compras nos saldos são consumidores compulsivos e irresponsáveis. Nada disso! O fim do consumo irresponsável e desnecessário passará por mudanças culturais em vários domínios e por uma educação para a sustentabilidade e não por políticas de preços.
You have noticed by the number of times I have spoken of sales that I am a pro sales person. If  purchases are conscious and well planned shopping at sales allow us a great saving. I reject the prototype (very politically correct these days) that those of us who shop at sales are compulsive and irresponsible consumers. None of this! The end of irresponsible and unnecessary consumption will happen under cultural change and education for sustainability rather than because of price policies.

Sendo uma pessoa de saldos, há um conjunto de regras que fui cimentando ao longo do tempo para fazer boas compras.
Being a sales person there is a set of rules that I have developed over time to make good purchases.

1º

Faça um arrumação rápida ao seu guarda-roupa. Não se trata naturalmente da limpeza geral de mudança de estação de que falámos aqui, mas de uma arrumação que lhe permita perceber o que precisa realmente de substituir ou de comprar para fazer uma atualização do seu guarda-roupa.

Make a quick storage of your wardrobe. It is not of course the general closet organising  of the season that we talked about here, but of a quick storage that allows you to realize what you really need to replace or to buy to make an update of your wardrobe.

Investigue: dê uma volta pelas lojas (ainda sem fazer compras), pelos sites, pelas revistas e blogues. Inspire-se fora do mainstreaming da moda: exposições, museus, filmes, séries, cenários,...

Make some research: Take a walk through the shops (before shopping), go through the shops sites, the mags and blogs. Inspire yourself out of fashion mainstreaming: exhibitions, museums, films, series, scenarios, ...

Faça listas! Fazemos listas para ir ao supermercado para garantir que compramos tudo o que precisamos, mas apenas isso, isto é, que não trazemos para casa coisas de que não precisamos . Nos saldos o objetivo é exatamente o mesmo: comprar o que precisa e algumas coisas que deseja, mas só isso! As listas permitir-lhe-ão estabelecer prioridades e gerir o orçamento disponível.

Faça quatro listas: uma lista de peças tendência que poderão atualizar o seu guarda-roupa (como dissemos aqui); uma lista dos básicos que precisa (veja aqui), uma terceira lista de apenas duas ou três peças que não precisa mesmo (ou que eram muito caras antes dos saldos) mas que poderá comprar quando os descontos forem de 70% e, por fim, uma lista de acessórios.

Make a list! We make lists to go to the grocery store to make sure we buy everything we need, but only that, that is, to ensure we do not bring home things we do not need. To shop at sales the goal is precisely the same: buy what you need and some items you wish, but that's it! The lists will allow you to set priorities and manage the available budget.

Make four lists: a list of trend pieces that can update your wardrobe (as we said here); a list of the basics you need (see here), a third list of only two or three items that you do not really need (or that were too expensive before the sales) but that you can aford now when prices are 70% lower, and finally make a list of accessories.

Não compre peças que não tenha experimentado antes só porque o preço é baixo, pelo menos em lojas onde não tenha a certeza que a devolução é fácil porque as trocas em saldos nem sempre são fáceis e poderá acabar por ficar com monos pouco desejados. As boas compradoras em saldos, planeiam as compras que irão fazer antes de os saldos começarem!

Do not buy clothes you have not tried before just because the price is low, at least don't do it in stores where you are not sure that returning is easy; exchanges  during sales are not easy and you may end up with unwanted items in your closet. The good  sales buyers plan the purchases they will make before the balances begin!

Compre só o seu tamanho! Para mim esta é uma regra de ouro. Todas já caímos no erro de comprar o tamanho abaixo sob o pretexto de que isso nos obrigará a fazer aquela dieta há tanto adiada e por isso todas sabemos que não vai acontecer! Não repita! Quanto a comprar o tamanho acima a pensar que pode depois mandar arranjar, esqueça! Não acontece e, se mandar realmente à costureira, lá se vai o que poupou nos saldos, para além de correr o risco de não ficar exatamente como desejava.

Buy your size! This is a golden rule. We have all fallen into the mistake of buying the size below ours under the pretext that this will force us to make that diet that has been postponed - this is not  going to happen! So, do not repeat it! As for buying the size above yours  planning to have it tailored later on, forget it! It does not happen and if you actually have it tailored, you will end up spending more than you have saved in sales, besides taking the risk of not fiting exactly as you wished.

Antecipe os seus desejos para as próximas estações! Os saldos devem servir para comprar aquilo que imagina que vai desejar ter no futuro e não aquilo que lamentou não ter tido na estação que está quase a terminar. Habituei-me a fazer isto quando as minhas filhas eram pequeninas e isso foi um treino excelente. Pondere se quer insistir nas tendências que foram muito usadas na estação anterior (e que poderão estar esgotadas) ou se prefere avançar para outras ainda menos vistas e que poderá usar na transição entre estações . Para fazer isto espreite  (aqui na Vogue UK) as coleções cruzeiro para perceber quais são as tendências das próximas estações.

Foresee your wishlist for the next season! Sales should be used to antecipate what you will want to wear in the future and not what you regretted not having had in the season that is almost finished. I used to do this when my daughters were children and that was an excellent practice. Consider whether you want to insist on the trends that were heavily used in the previous season (and that may be exhausted) or whether you prefer to move on to less visible trends. To do this look  (here at the UK Vogue) at the cruise collections to realize what are the trends of the next seasons.

Não compre peças desirmanadas que não sabe como vai conjugar, sob o pretexto de que encontrará alguma coisa para combinar. A ideia dos saldos é completar o seu guarda-roupa, comprando o que lhe falta e não comprar peças que serão um problema futuro.

Do not buy pieces that you do not know how to combine, under the pretext that you will find something to match. The idea of sales shopping is to complete your closet, buying what you lack and not buying pieces that will be a future problem.

Não compre peças de festa se não tiver um objetivo específico já definido! As roupas e acessórios para festa são muito aliciantes em saldos porque têm sempre descontos muito elevados. A não ser que tenha uma agenda social muito preenchida, com exceção de alguma coisa que tenha muita certeza que poderá sempre vestir numa ocasião especial, não arrisque.

8th

Do not buy party clothes if you do not have a specific purpose already pre-defined! Party clothes and accessories are very attractive in sales because they always have very high discounts. Unless you have a very busy social agenda, except for an item you are very sure you can always wear on a special occasion, do not risk it.

9º

Aprenda a identificar o tipo de peças gosta de comprar mas que nunca usa e aquelas que repete incessantemente e que por isso nunca serão demais no seu guarda-roupa. Isso ajudá-la-á a evitar repetir os erros sistemáticos que todas temos mas dar-lhe-á conforto para comprar a vigésima peça quase igual às outras dezanove que já tem. Não me deixo intimidar quando a minha mãe diz com ar escandalizado "Mais um vestido preto?". Tenho a segurança que uso os meus vestidos pretos até à exaustão, e por isso compro mesmo!

Learn to identify the kind of pieces you like to buy but you never wear and those you repeat incessantly and that will never be too much in your closet. This will prevent you from repeating  systematic mistakes (we all do it) and will comfort you to buy the twentieth piece almost equal to the other nineteen you already have. I do not get intimidated when my mother says with surprise "Another black dress?!". I'm sure I wear my black dresses to exhaustion, so I really do buy another one fearless!
